Lynne Smith 15 hrs It has come to our attention that a man named Terry Holt (Australia) has been responsible for much harassment of pro-BSL people on Facebook, including taking screenshots from this group

who he is, pages he runs, etc. and to block him as much as possible. Any members here who can provide links so that others can become better educated on this individual and block him are encouraged to list them here without inflammatory language. If anyone is interested in being PMed to give out the info you may volunteer to do so. Please remember that social media is never entirely safe, people are looking to copy what you say, so the less ammunition you give them, the better. Our goal is to keep this page open as much as possible so that people, especially victims, can find us and be educated. We will not be silenced or go into hiding due to a few intolerant individuals. Thank you.

  • Ken Esada since pictures speak a thousand words, maybe we should just post gruesome photos of pit victims to pit supporters. no words necessary.

  • Ken Esada they never pay attention to words, i have found. but pics stay in their mind. i don't see an image problem since we are not the ones inflicting harm

  • Lynne Smith Pro-pit people think we are. They also think we are out for blood. I find it better not to life up to their characterizations of us and give them little to hang us with. Most of them can't be convinced anyway, its the general public that is already on our side but generally silent on this issue. The best thing we can do therefore is to be the professional, collected ones they are not afraid to join with.

  • Tamara Timmermann Photos of injuries are no more likely to sway them than the pictures they post of their kids with pits prove to us that they are safe.

  • Ken Esada we do need to keep evangelizing (getting people on our side), especially lawmakers. unfortunately, the only lawmaker in my family is anti-BSL. and local town officials here don't want to offend ANY dog owners.

  • Julia Lewis Absolute, Ken Esada! This is why this page is so important. It gives the general public a chance to know what is really going on by telling the truth about these dogs. We exist really to warn people so that more people don't die. To do this we need to constantly put up facts - attack stories - and statistics, so if you or anyone else sees a story elsewhere that is not here, please do put it up.

  • Penny Spears I think it's better to completely ignore them, and keep spreading our message. They sound like idiots to "normal" people, I think that speaks louder than words. No one will change their minds until they are ready to change, till they experience or get fed up with the maulings.

  • Lynne Smith Then Ken the best way to educate them is let them know how other places have voted, what other dog owners really think. Do they honestly believe the majority of pet owners are happy knowing dogs genetically engineered to fight to the death with another dog are living near them? Do they honestly believe people are happy seeing their tax dollars used to euthanize pit bull after pit bull due to over population? If nothing else, mandatory spay/neuter for pit bulls that ends death and saves the town money, that does not impact a single responsible pet owner, would be something they could get behind.

Sometimes when you alter the approach you get better results than simply hitting them over the head with image after image of a dead children which only makes them fight you more.

  • Tamara Timmermann What is infuriating is when they say that one attack story doesn't prove the dogs are bad then in the same breath tell how sweet their own dog is as if that will prove they are all good.

  • Julia Lewis We need to keep putting up all sorts of info to counter the PC propaganda. I would like to have, for example, someone who used to love pit bulls telling how she or he came to realise their danger. It would be nice if some of the personal accounts from victims were put up here, where the public can see them. There is, in fact, an awful lot we can put up. So much interesting stuff.

  • Julia Lewis I agree with Penny, most "normal" people would think like us and be worried about their children or grandchildren, or their pets.

  • Ken Esada i just looked at our local newspaper . this is a 2-page story. the story about Cesar Millan is 2-inch. so you see we need to get newspapers more on our side. i think local TV news does a good job reporting dog attacks.

  • Julia Lewis Oh, how maddening! What a silly girl that is. The one writing it, I mean. I notice she puts Dobermans first, as if they were on a par with pit bulls, when they most certainly are not. Someone on the editorial staff must be pro pit.

  • Lynne Smith The wealthy Animal Farm Foundation is driving the misinformation about pit bulls and demonizing the public when it doesn't agree with them. All we can do is calmly, politely refute all of their arguments with facts each and every time. Write letters to the editor, make comments on articles, demand better laws from our officials. And don't make it all about attacks. Include the costs of leaving things the way they are, including how many pit bulls are killed every year due to irresponsible pit bull owners who breed them. Make positive arguments.

  • Penny Spears Julia, I was one of those who backed pit bulls. I truly believed they were regular dogs, demonized by people who hate animals or something. When I saw the photos of the "KFC" girl, little Victoria, I was shocked. Over a few days I watched people attack her family, supporting the dog breed that nearly killed her. Her injuries were so horrendous, and all people wanted to do was talk about their family committing a fraud, and that it wasn't the dog's fault. I was stunned. Her little face! She's missing an eye! She is so tiny and her wounds were so terrible. I am in dog rescue, and when I started to support the victims, some of my rescue friends turned on me. Viciously, I might say. When I finally discovered all the facts for myself (and facts don't change just because one doesn't agree with them), I started posting all the stories I find. I think I've reached a few, possibly more. One gal messaged me that her pit-mix was showing signs of aggression toward a little girl, a family member, and with my posts in mind, she had the dog euthanized. Imagine that, BEFORE the dog did something. I'm not confrontational, and I really think people on my friend list have been swayed. One gal with a beloved shih tzu watches for the known pit bull on her block, and if she sees it out she grabs up her dog and runs home. The dog is behind a chain link fence.. but we know how that can turn out. So, this was long, but this is my story of changing my mind, in light of new information.
